Allergens & ingredients
Allergens: Contains oats, wheat, barley, spelt, rye, and wheat semolina. Contains gluten.
Ingredients: Whole grain flour* 80% (oats*, wheat*, barley*, spelt*, rye*), wheat semolina*, vitamin B1. *from organic farming
Preparation & storage
- Bring 100 ml (3.4 fl oz) whole milk and 100 ml water to the boil together, then let it cool to about 50 °C (122 °F)
- Put 3–4 tablespoons (22 g) of porridge in a bowl
- Pour in the cooled milk and water, stir and let it swell
- Check the temperature before feeding
The water is needed to bring the protein of the cow’s milk down to a level that suits babies. With formula instead: make about 200 ml of formula, stir it in the same way and let it swell.
Always feed the porridge with a spoon and make it fresh for each meal — do not reuse leftovers, as saliva makes the porridge runny. Do not heat it in the microwave (risk of scalding). Close the opened bag again, keep it dry at room temperature and use it within 3–4 weeks. Care for your baby’s teeth from the very first tooth.

Vitamin B1
Required in cereal baby food
EU rules for cereal-based baby food set a minimum amount of vitamin B1 (thiamine) — 0.37 mg per bowl here. Thiamine contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism.
Fiber
From the whole grain
2 g of fiber per bowl — from five wholegrain flours: oats, wheat, barley, spelt and rye.

Only showing general answers — nothing here is specific to HiPP 5-Grain.
What payment methods do you accept?
Little Formula accepts credit and debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Every payment runs through Shopify's encrypted checkout, so your card details never reach us.
How do I redeem a coupon or store credit?
Type the coupon code into the “Add discount” field at checkout. Store credit is applied automatically once you log in to your account or enter the email address the credit was issued to.
Can I return baby formula?
No. Formula and baby food are hygienic, perishable products, so Little Formula cannot take them back — accepting a return would mean we could no longer guarantee the authenticity of every tin we ship.
If something arrives damaged, message us within 48 hours with photos and we will sort it out.
How do I cancel my order?
Contact customer support through the Help button within 30 minutes of ordering. Orders leave our Berlin warehouse fast, so after that window Little Formula cannot guarantee a cancellation.
How long does shipping take?
Orders are dispatched from Germany within 24 hours on business days. Delivery to the United States then takes 2 to 4 business days with FedEx, depending on your location. Little Formula does not ship on weekends or German national holidays.
Do I need to pay customs duties or tariffs?
No. Little Formula prepays all customs duties and tariffs, so the price you see at checkout is the price you pay. Nothing is collected at your door.
What should I do if FedEx sends me a customs bill?
In the rare case a duties invoice reaches you anyway, send a copy of every page to our support team. We settle it with FedEx directly — you do not pay it.
Where do you ship from?
Every order ships from our climate-controlled warehouse in Berlin, Germany. The facility is inspected regularly to meet EU food-safety standards, so your formula is stored correctly right up to the moment it leaves.
Can you deliver to a PO Box?
No. FedEx needs a physical street address. If you are away, use the FedEx tracking link in your shipping email to choose a hold-at-location pickup or a vacation hold instead.
Where do I find the English feeding guide?
A printed feeding guide in English comes with every order, and the same table is on each product page under “Preparation”. It tells you how many scoops and how much water per feed for your baby's age.
Show 9 more questions
Does the formula come with a scoop?
Yes. Every tin or carton includes the manufacturer's own scoop. Only use that scoop — sizes differ between brands and stages, and the feeding table is calculated for it.
What is the difference between HiPP Combiotik German and Dutch?
The two ranges differ in packaging and starch content only.
The Dutch version comes in 800 g metal cans and is starch-free in every stage. The German version comes in 600 g cartons; most German stages contain starch, though a few are starch-free and match the Dutch recipe.
When do I move from Stage 1 to Stage 2?
Stage 1 is nutritionally complete for the whole first year, so there is no need to switch before your baby starts solids. Many parents move to Stage 2 around 6 months, when its slightly higher iron and calcium content suits a baby who is also eating solid food. Ask your pediatrician if you are unsure.
How should I store opened formula, and how long does it keep?
Keep the container in a cool, dry place indoors, away from heat and sunlight — never in the refrigerator, where the powder can absorb moisture, and never in the freezer. Use an opened pack within three weeks.
Where is the expiration date printed?
On the bottom of the container, in the German format DD.MM.YY — so 31.12.26 means 31 December 2026. Little Formula guarantees at least 6 months of shelf life on every formula it ships, and most products have far more.
How do I check the batch number in case of a recall?
Every order includes a batch report with the batch number and expiration date, and Little Formula archives the batch numbers of every shipment. In the unlikely event of a recall, affected customers are contacted directly — you do not need to do anything.
Is the formula safe to use if the carton arrived dented?
Yes, as long as the silver foil seal inside is intact and unpunctured. A dented outer box does not affect the powder.
If the pack is leaking or spilling, photograph the damage straight away, keep the product, and send the photos to our support team for a replacement.
Why is German formula considered the gold standard?
German formulas such as HiPP are made under EU organic rules that are stricter than USDA organic, recalls are extremely rare, and the recipes follow current nutrition research. They contain no corn syrup, artificial flavors, pesticides, antibiotics or GMOs.
Why do many US formulas use corn syrup solids?
Corn syrup solids are a cheap, shelf-stable carbohydrate that tolerates the high heat of large-scale processing. European regulation requires lactose to be the main carbohydrate in infant formula, which is why EU formulas taste closer to breast milk.
