Why is German formula considered the gold standard?
German formulas such as HiPP are made under EU organic rules that are stricter than USDA organic, recalls are extremely rare, and the recipes follow current nutrition research. They contain no corn syrup, artificial flavors, pesticides, antibiotics or GMOs.
Why do many US formulas use corn syrup solids?
Corn syrup solids are a cheap, shelf-stable carbohydrate that tolerates the high heat of large-scale processing. European regulation requires lactose to be the main carbohydrate in infant formula, which is why EU formulas taste closer to breast milk.
Does HiPP HA contain corn syrup?
No. HiPP HA Stage 1 is sweetened with organic lactose — the same sugar as breast milk — not corn syrup. A small share of maltodextrin keeps the hydrolyzed protein gentle on small stomachs.
Is maltodextrin the same as corn syrup?
No. Maltodextrin is a starch broken into short chains; it is far less sweet than corn syrup and is used in HiPP HA in a small amount to improve the texture of the hydrolyzed protein. It is not a sweetener.
Can I mix HiPP HA with my baby's current formula while switching?
Yes. Over about five days, replace one feed at a time with HiPP HA until every feed is the new formula. A gradual switch gives a sensitive tummy time to adjust.
Prepare each bottle separately — never mix two powders in one bottle.
